Blaenau Ffestiniog is a historic mining town, best known for being the slate capital of the world, having recently been awarded the acclaimed UNESCO World Heritage Site. The area is a mecca for any outdoor enthusiasts, with bike trails, climbing, kayaking, and walking routes in abundance. For fishing, centred around Blaenau Ffestiniog, the Cambrian Angling Association is one of the oldest angling clubs in Wales. Only a few minutes away is the award winning Llechwedd slate caverns/Zip World, a great day out for the kids and adults alike; here there are various activities for all interests such as, deep mine tours, underground golf, ziplines and much more.
You’re only a short drive from Betws-y-Coed, known as the gateway to the Snowdonia National Park, another wonderful place to spend the day. Here you’ll find scenic river walks, plenty of eateries, a plethora of outdoor shops and gift shops to peruse.
