Travel Purpose: business

Positive: The position right on the river was wonderful. There was everything you would need for a short break at Holly Lodge. The conservatory overlooking the river was useful on a rainy day. Mrs Silva was very helpful on the phone when we couldn’t find the place.

Negative: Holly Lodge was really difficult to find, even using google maps. Even the people at the pub, ( which you could see from the Lodge!), whom we asked, didn’t know where it was. The walk from where you could park the car (which was sometimes full, even out of season), became rather tedious, especially in rainy weather. It was about 200 metres. It was a muddy walk through the common to the lodge, and dressed up as we were to go out for a special meal, you got very muddy shoes. Although we were grateful for the little trolly to help carry our luggage from the communal parking, it was in bad repair, and we suggest it could be replaced. I would suggest a little booklet in the kitchen to let guests know about things to do in the area, pubs to visit, where to hire boats from etc., as the few leaflets were out of date (2019). The place was dated. The furnishings and pictures could be replaced, eg king size bed to update to current expectations. Although the heating was great, the tiled floors were cold on the feet.

Summary: We had a very pleasant stay.
