Positive: The facilities were good, the single room was nicely set out with hanging space, fridge, and kettle and effort had been made to make the room a little oasis which was lovely. The kitchen and dining room were good and laid out with a nice table setting. The owners made an effort to make it hospitable and friendly. Communication was really good and I was able to get in to the place easily and early which was really helpful, so I could drop my stuff and go out by lunchtime which some places you can't do. The price was really good which is why I booked it, and not too far from the Greenbelt Festival if you want to stay off site. There was on street parking outside if you were lucky or around the corner, not the greatest area, but I didn't have any problems.

Negative: It is cheap and therefore any negatives must be in that context. I was trying to work out if negatives are fair because of the price, however, I think it's only fair to others, especially single women coming, to give fair warning. The difficulty is that you can't change it being a hostel, and when you have to remember to take your toilet paper with you in and out of the shared bathroom because there isn't any in there, it has that hostel aroma, and I was shouted at by someone in the room near the front door who said he lived there alone and didn't expect anyone else, it is not very comfortable, physically or especially emotionally. The guy did apologise, and I am a seasoned traveller by myself, but I did literally have bad dreams about the place that night and not feel comfortable after that. I think couples would be fine. It bothered me about toilet paper on occasions I forgot to take it in with me, and this is the downside to not having anyone responsible living on site. 4 rooms, some doubles share the bathroom which can be inconvenient. So if you were the only people in the house, it would be lovely and the owners obviously made a good effort to make it a nice venue.i can't say hosts as they were not there therefore that's the main problem. If they were on site, then other people's attitude, and facilities could be managed properly. It did the job, but I wouldn't stay again sadly.

Summary: Room was lovely oasis in difficult surroundings.
