The gardens of Great Dixter are closeby as is Bodiam Castle with its picture perfect setting and the steam trains and river Rother at Northiam, where you can hire a boat and while away some time floating through the water meadows. Tenterden with its pretty tree lined High Street, independent shops and weather boarded cottages is under half an hour's drive away and en route stop off at Chapel Down vineyard to sample some excellent award winning English wines.
