Brimming with character and charm, this wonderful holiday cottage is just like stepping back in time! Built in the early 1800s by William Maddox, founder of Porthmadog, Morfa Lodge was originally the old coach house & stable block for the nearby manor house and was on the map before Porthmadog itself as we know it!
"An absolute gingerbread cottage, this former Coach House is full of charm and character, a five minute stroll to Porthmadog's harbour, bustling town and Welsh Highland Railway."
With antique furniture (the dresser with intricate carvings in the sitting room are believed to be a dowry from 1806) & stunning woodwork, all hand built by the owner's father, a master carpenter, you will feel immersed in history.

Summary: Shops nearby and a short walk to the Main Street and harbor. The cottage offered everything we needed for out one week stay. It's quite old and might lack the comfort of a more modern house, but you get a lot of authenticity in return. The owner was very kind and helpfull (thanks for the eggs and cookies!). We had a great stay here and it's a perfect place to explore the North-west of Wales.
