Positive: The cottage number 1 was beautifully decorated and actually a beautiful building as a whole. It was very clean and really well equipped. The bedding and towels were divine and felt luxurious. Very comfy bed. Loved the log burner. The welcome hamper of treats was an extra lovely touch, as well as the dog friendly items such as bed, bags and biscuits. Well located for Thornham Deli and walks to the pubs and beach.

Negative: The road traffic noise is really bad and shakes the property, this can be expected from 6am to midnight. It’s such a shame. We don’t remember the road being so busy and fast when we visited Thornham in the past. Vehicles also speed down this road and it’s dangerous for crossing and getting into the parking spot (luckily we parked over at the Deli instead, which is lovely by the way). This is the main reason we wouldn’t book this property again, and I wouldn’t recommend it for anyone with a nervous dog or young children. The council really need to do something. The cottage could maybe benefit from double glazed windows and some sound-proofing. From the pictures we thought the garden was quite private and had lawn for our dog but that photo was from cottage number 2. Cottage 1 garden is a courtyard with raised flower bed which was ok but backed onto a public footpath (again right next to the road) so we couldn’t really sit and relax in the garden. Unfortunately the neighbours in cottage 2 were noisy too, so we barely slept and deliberately didn’t spend much time in the cottage as originally planned. Overall the property is well located for walking around but don’t expect much peacefulness. The road noise actually made me feel quite stressed.
