Travel Purpose: leisure

Positive: The remote location was a dream and the views from the front of the house breath-taking. It's proximity to the Coastal Path allowed for instant access to stunning walks but the cottage also felt secluded and private. Despite having no electricity the open fires and aga ensured the cottage felt warm and cosy and this atmosphere was increased by the oil lamps and candles, of which there were plentiful supplies. The cottage was immaculate and comfortably furnished and felt very homely with many little touches such as kitchen supplies and necessities, books and games. We were sorry not to be there in warmer weather so as to enjoy the beautiful gardens more but we did enjoy stunning walks down to Strumble Head lighthouse to watch the seals, seeing huge pods of dolphins along the way and countless bird species, and a enjoyed a couple of wonderful star-strewn skies before steaming hot baths. Would recommend this idyll to anyone looking for a digital detox or full immersion in nature, an escape into a slower and more peaceful pace of life for a while.
