Travel Purpose: leisure

Positive: The lodge was clean, the hot tub was the perfect temperature. We had a free lunch at the restaurant and the food was delicious. The lodge is in an great location approximately a 15 minute drive to St Andrews.

Negative: The lodge says that it sleeps 6 but one of the rooms had 2 beds squeezed in it that weren't large enough for adults. However, on our last day we found out that the sofa in the living room converted to a double bed. On our second night, the electricity went off at 2am and despite being told in the literature that there was a 24/7 response we had to wait until 10.30am to get help. This was after more than a dozen attempts to try the 3 numbers provided. The smoke alarms also beeped all night after the power went off. The owner Marius turned up on the Sunday at 10.30am and got the power and heating back on. He said he didn't receive any voicemails (!) but he offered us a breakfast or lunch for the inconvenience. We had a chat and phoned Marius back. He told us that we could have lunch with drinks and he would phone ahead to the restaurant to let them know we were coming. On arrival at the restaurant, Valentina said she knew nothing about the lunch offer. I phoned Marius back and got his voicemail so I left a message. Then we were told by Valentina that we could have 1 course only and that we would have to pay for our own drinks. We were very disappointed with this outcome however Valentina was fantastic and the food was amazing. As we were there to celebrate 2 birthdays it left a bitter taste in the mouth as the whole episode ruined a good weekend.
