This cottage is a simple conversion of the 16th century Gatehouse at Gwydir Castle, just outside Llanrwst and 4 miles north of Betws-y-Coed, on the eastern side of the Snowdonia National Park. The cottage provided compact accommodation in a historic stone building, Grade I listed and retaining interesting characterful features. An excellent base for walking, mountain biking and other outdoor pursuits; guests can also visit the castle itself (open to the public and occasionally used for weddings) and explore the interesting historicgardens, home to several peacocks!
