Positive: This delightfully charming old cottage was perfect as a base for the Western Lakes. The kitchen was really well-equipped, the lounge and dining area too. The TV had all the entertainment channels. The absolute highlight for us was the woodburning fire ( the British summer being unreliable!). It made it so, so cosy. Upstairs are two nice bedrooms and a large bathroom with good lighting and mirrors. There is a cute terrace area outside. The village is quiet but there were always people about on an evening stroll and everywhere was in easy reach. I was so happy I chose it.

Negative: There is only enough wood for a couple of fires and Cockermouth had no supplies at Aldi ( the suggested supermarket). Workington ( head for superstores: big Aldi and a homestore)) was better for supples.

Summary: Charming, cosy Cumbran cottage ideal for the Western Lakes
