Aptly named 'Lowen', which in Cornish means 'joy', this stunning Scandi-style cabin is a one-of-a-kind getaway in Northern Cornwall. Tucked away on a quiet country lane but just a 5 minute drive to Porthtowan Beach, you really do get the best of both worlds.
The Space:
Inside, everything has been finished to a high standard with brand new fittings, mod cons and furniture. The main living and dining space is striking, and you'll feel instantly at peace with the light that floods throughout. You can expect double lofted ceilings, teak wood stairs and flooring and large double doors that open out onto the decking and garden. After fun days on the beach, nothing beats sinking into the sofa with a film playing on the Smart TV while something delicious bubbles away on the stove. In true Scandi style the kitchenette, although not huge, makes clever use of space and has Smeg appliances as well as a built in microwave, dishwasher and ample cooking utensils.
The cabin boasts two bedrooms, sleeping four in total. On the ground floor, you will find a spacious double bedroom with stylish furnishings as well as ample clothes storage space in the fitted wardrobes. There is also a door that leads directly out into the garden - it's very peaceful on summer mornings. Upstairs, there is an additional double bed on the cosy mezzanine, and a stylish velvet green armchair, lamp and radio provide the perfect reading spot on gloomy days. Both bedrooms share a brand new bathroom downstairs, which has been kitted out with a waterfall shower as well as a bath tub. Its beautiful interiors, tranquil garden and convenient location makes this an unforgettable coastal bolthole. Private parking available for one vehicle.
One well behaved dog is welcome with a fee of £40/dog, please let us know if you will be brining a pet with you . It is on the condition they are not allowed on the soft furnishings or in the bedrooms, are cleaned up after and are not left in the property unattended. Please make sure to clean off any muddy paws before they are allowed into the property.

The Neighborhood:
Lowen Lodge is located on a quiet country road in Mount Hawke, a village located on the outskirts of Porthtowan and Agnes. Despite its close location to the bustling North Cornish coast, the lodge sits in the leafy surroundings of rural Cornwall and, for the most part, all you'll hear is the gentle hum of the surrounding wildlife. In Mount Hawke village you will also find a well-stocked convenience store, playing field and famous indoor skatepark.
In around 5 minutes drive, you can reach the gorgeous Porthtowan Beach and St Agnes heritage coastline. Located within a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, this Blue Flag award winning beach is one of Cornwall’s most popular surfing beaches bordered by soft golden sand and backed by large dunes and dramatic cliffs. It is fully lifeguarded from May 1st to 26th September, during weekends in October and fully in October half term. From the beach at low tide you can walk to the neighbouring Chapel Porth to the east or a little further to St Agnes Beacon passing the iconic Wheal Coates - we would highly recommend doing this walk during summer as the sunsets are truly spectacular! Chapel Porth Beach is also walkable from the lodge in around 20 minutes. On the way around 7 minutes from the lodge is a fantastic pub, the Victory Inn - perfect for a well earned drink after a hike! Another highlight is the Porthtowan tidal pool - only accessible at low tide, it is one of North Cornwall's best kept secrets.
Head for St Agnes and you’ll end up in the creative hub known as Wheal Kitty Workshops, the home of Finisterre, Canteen and Surfers Against Sewage. Coffee lovers make sure you head to Canteen for their delicious flat whites and freshly baked pastries! After long days surfing, end the day with a meal at the superb Schooners looking out over the water of Trevaunance Cove. The village has a brilliant selection of pubs and eateries, including: Genki, Driftwood Spars, Taste and the Cornish Pizza Company.
Within 30 minutes, you can also reach the stunning Godrevy Point and coastline. Gwithian Towans is a colourful spectacle of windsurfers, sun-worshippers and kites. It is backed by protected sand dunes tufted with wild grass and at low tide there is a vast amount of sand to enjoy and large areas of rock pools, which are great for kids.
Getting Around:
Due to the remote nature of Cornwall, we would recommend bringing a vehicle with you to make the most out of your stay. There is private parking available for one vehicle with ample free parking for additional vehicles on the road outside the property.
Other Things to Note:
Due to the open stair case, the lodge is most likely fine for babies but may not be safe for mobile toddlers or very young children. Please consider this before booking!
Please be aware the hot tub may not be available, due to the local hosepipe ban.
